The vase shape throughout history has often been perceived as a visual metaphor for the exterior female body. Putting a 21st century lens on this antiquated view of women, my Vases and Containers embraces the female form as a vessel, but also asks the fundamental question: What do women really contain inside? Ideas and thoughts pass through us, just like these open vase forms. My vases purposefully can’t hold any contents, because the thoughts and dreams and interior world of women, including the power of love, is the key to our happiness and fulfillment as human beings, not the exterior form to be gazed upon and judged by others.
