Geometric/Abstractions is an ongoing series that I’ve been working on for the past fifteen years.  Many wood sculptures in this grouping of work were inspired by my love and study of Ancient Persian and Near Eastern carpets with their intricate and often repetitive lines and forms.   Titles in this grouping such as: Arak, Aradbil, Iran and Kirati relate to the exact carpet pattern that influenced the work. Some other pieces in Geometric/Abstractions explore numerology and my love of numbers –some works in this sub-group have elements and forms that repeat, can be added or divided or even display a rotational symmetry– 5/5, 8/8, 7 into 3, 3/3.  Another sub-group in Geometric/Abstractions transposes the actual folds found inside of our brains into wood.  What all these works have in common are my interest and passion for geometric and abstract forms, flowing lines and complex patterns that can include both the positive and the contrasting negative space.
